"Uncertainty, vagueness and probability of many-valued events"

Resumen: Dealing with imperfect information may lead to situations of either agueness or uncertainty. The former leads to the development of many-valued logics as a way to deal with vague concepts, using truth values that are intermediate between true and false, in order to generalize classical logic. The latter leads to the study of the probability of events, that are uncertain now, but will become either true or false later. A connection can be established developing a theory that allows to speak about probability of many-valued events, that is to say events that even when verified may not be just true or false, grounded on the t-norm based fuzzy logics setting.

Bio: Sara Ugolini graduated in Mathematics at the University of Siena in 2013, and is currently in the last year of her PhD at the Department of Computer Science of the University of Pisa.

Her research interests mostly concern t-norm based fuzzy logics and their algebraic semantics, approximate reasoning and probability of vague events.
